Dr. Quah-Smith has been trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine principles as part of her training in acupuncture. TCM has many benefits as it recognizes the individual in his or her environment and acknowledges the role of the elements and seasonal changes on health and wellbeing. Particularly helpful are the concepts of “wind” and “damp” which do not exist in the Western medical paradigm. Taking care of these conditions are important as they create the majority of sensory changes and symptomatology today. In TCM, health and wellbeing is maintained with a daily programme of exercise, meditation, massage and diet according to the season. Herbs may be introduced as required.
